Anterior segment surgeries

To become an expert person for anterior eye segment surgery, it is highly recommended to be trained with advanced practice in a realistic environment. In this regard, OcuSim-CAT provides capsulorhexis, hydrodissection, phaco modules as surgery training. All the components including instruments, microscope foot switch, foot pedal, Phaco probe, and head interface are produced and arranged masterly to provide a sense of operation in a real surgery.

Cataract Courses

Phaco Divide and Conquer

In this course trainees can earn a good understanding of the lens divide using the D&C technique. There are many levels to teach the movements, lens removal, cracking, and carving the lens material.

Cataract Phaco Skills

In this course the trainee learns how to use the phaco probe. Trainees will practice handling the probe and basic phaco skills, such as irrigation, aspiration, and emulsification with ultrasonic energy. Also, the user trains the appropriate setup of the OR machine.

Cataract Bimanual Training

In this exercise, the user practices the skill of working with two instruments in the intraocular space. The user must be able to touch two interconnected objects simultaneously with the two instruments and hold until they glow.

Capsulorhexis

In this course the user learns how to open the anterior capsule. Different levels are available prepared initial flap, different capsule properties, errant tears, weak zonules, and white cataract.

Cataract Forceps Skills

In this exercise, the trainee learns how to work with the forceps instrument. There are a number of objects in the space between lens and cornea and the trainee must be able to pick up any of the objects without damaging the surrounding tissues and place them in the embedded basket.

Intracapsular hand tremor skills

This course is the same as hand tremor skills but in the internal space of an empty capsule. Scenarios are designed according to the intracapsular actions during real surgery.

Intracapsular Navigation

This course is the same as navigation but it performed in the internal space of an empty capsule where the lens is evacuated.

Hand tremor skills

In the hand tremor skills courses trainees must grasp an object and move it along a defined trajectory.

Navigation

In this course the trainee must hold the tip of the instrument over defined targets in the space between lens and cornea.

Objective Assessments & Feedback

Once a user finishes the task, he will receive an evaluation of your performance.

The score is in fact your overall score which is determined according to some variables. In each task, these variables are determined and measured according to the determined objectives for the task. If the user fully achieves the goal, he will earn the highest score. The simulator scoring system evaluates the user’s performance online. The scoring criterion and imposing penalties would be corrected with progression in each task. Therefore, the user’s feedback would always be evaluated
